Systems Change
Japan faces rapid population decline and aging, which have widened health disparities across income levels and regions. Structural challenges such as labor shortages in medical and nursing care, along with increasing social isolation, demand more than institutional reform. SIIF aims to explore approaches that not only transform the healthcare and long-term care systems but also encourage shifts in individual awareness and mutual support, ensuring better physical and mental well-being for all.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed many latent issues in Japanese society—not only the pressures of an aging population but also the growing inequalities in health outcomes. Beyond restructuring healthcare and long-term care systems, we aim to promote initiatives that ensure no one is left behind in terms of physical, mental, or social well-being, while encouraging changes in individual attitudes and community-based mutual support.

Based on our Healthcare Issue Map, we have developed a Vision Paper detailing our Theory of Change and SIIF’s initiatives.
