Systems Change

Solving today’s complex challenges requires transforming the underlying structures that create them — not just addressing their symptoms.
To achieve a sustainable and fair society, we must identify the root causes embedded in our social, economic, and political systems and redesign them.

Since 2023, SIIF has been researching, developing, and implementing Systems Change Investment, an investment approach grounded in this principle.

What Is Systems Change?

Systems change refers to intentionally transforming the functions or structures of a defined social or environmental system in order to address complex challenges that arise from the system’s existing design.

What Is Systems Change Investing?

Systems change investing is the practice of driving transformation toward systems that generate new and sustainable value. It combines the intent to address social and environmental issues at their root with the learning mindset needed to deeply understand how a system works and where its fundamental causes lie.
Rather than focusing solely on capital provision, it brings together diverse approaches necessary for solving complex problems and catalyzes a shift toward systems that can deliver long-term impact.
