- Chair of Executive Committee Shuichi ONO
- After working for a major Japanese general trading company, I was seconded to the Japan Center for Economic Research, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the World Bank before being appointed Director of International Affairs at the Nippon Foundation in 2001. In 2014, at the request of the Japanese government, I was appointed as the G8 Task Force for Impact Investment Japan Private Sector Representative and a member of the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG) Japan National Advisory Board. After becoming President of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation in 2016, I established the 10-billion-yen Asian Women’s Impact Fund at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and became the new President of SIIF in June 2020.

- Vice-chair of Executive Committee Mitsuaki AOYAGI
- I joined the Nippon Foundation in 1991. I worked on civic themes such as reconstruction support activities after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, solving mobility difficulties for the disabled, and strengthening NPO support centers. Later, I was in charge of the planning department, organizational development and human resources. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, I was appointed as the leader of a task force set up within the foundation, and was involved in a number of support projects in collaboration with social entrepreneurs and the government. In 2017, I founded SIIF. I hold a Master’s degree in Business Administration. I am a lecturer at Globis University Graduate School of Management and a board member of Benesse Children’s Fund.

- After retiring from the Bank of Japan, I worked for a private company before becoming the Executive Director of the Foundation. As the director in charge of general affairs, I will create a bright and healthy organization where everyone can work with peace of mind, so that the diverse human resources gathered at the Foundation can do their best to solve social issues.

- After graduating from university, I worked for a major Japanese general trading company and obtained a master’s degree in international development from a graduate school in the United States. While in graduate school, I participated in an internship at the Pakistan office of an impact investment fund. After returning to Japan in 2011, I joined The Nippon Foundation, where I worked on various projects including the Japan Venture Philanthropy Fund, Social Impact Bond Project, and GSG Domestic Advisory Committee. In April 2017, I established the Foundation as a spin-out from the Nippon Foundation and became its Executive Director, leading the planning and promotion of impact investing in general.

Knowledge Development Office Satoshi ODA - I started my career in managerial accounting at an iron-steel manufacturer, followed by studying in the US and working with a strategy consultancy as well as a start-up company before joining the Foundation in 2019. As the leader of the research and intelligence team, my most important task is to formalize, structurize and systematize the on-site and tacit knowledge of impact investing and impact management, and to figure out valu-added KFS (key factors for success). My motto in my work is “Inspire, impact and innovate Japan”. I asipire to make Japan a front runner in tackling and solving social issues facing us. I holds an MBA degree and USCPA (Initial Certificate).

- Business Development Impact Officer Yuka OGASAWARA
- After working for a government-affiliated financial institution in the area of aid and international finance for Central Asia and Central and Eastern Europe, I worked for the Tokyo office of a US-based consulting firm where I was involved in management consulting, then launched office-wide pro bono practice initiative, and provided support to children-related NPOs in Japan. Then I worked for a Japanese governmental aid agency, where I was in charge of India, Turkey, Indonesia and other countries. At SIIF, I am now in charge of projects of dormant asset utilization, impact measurement and management, and responsible as secretariat of the Impact Investing Roundtable co-hosted by the Financial Services Agency. I am most looking forward to working with the projects in the field as they move forward one step at a time. I hold a Master of Public Policy.

- I joined SIIF following my carrer in content and media industry, in which I established and run a corporate venture capital as well as leading business development of international and domestic subsidiaries for one of the largest publishing companies in Japan.
Shifting the course of my professional life to impact investing in 2019 after finishing MBA, I am currently in charge of managing a VC model impact investing fund (Japan Impact Investment Fund II) and developing a project to support early-stage social entrepreneurs.

- While pursuing master’s degree., I started an non profit organization that provides agricultural support. I launched and promoted several organizations related to solving issues in rural areas, social education, and social investment. After spending last two years of my twenties working for an IT company, I entered PhD. while I experienced pregnancy, hospitalization, childbirth, nursing, and nursing care of a child with chromosomal abnormalities. After returning to school and returning to work, I worked in the Diversity Promotion Office at a local national university before joining the Foundation. I am in charge of providing management support, writing impact reports, and conducting surveys and research for the Dormant Deposit Utilization Project, Hallucigenia Lab, ADDress, and the Healthcare New Frontier Fund. I am currently working remotely from a marginalized village on the Sea of Japan coast. My main areas of interest include regional development, group dynamics, and gender. Doctor of Agriculture.

- Business Development Impact Officer Michiru TODA
- I have held marketing positions in local Indian companies and foreign consulting firms, and most recently worked on labor policy at an international organization. At the Foundation, I am in charge of model project structuring, investment, and policy advocacy for SIB/PFS projects, management support for social entrepreneurs at the Hallucigenia Lab, and preparation of impact investment market reports for the GSG National Advisory Board. My main area of interest is the cultivation of citizenship with multifaceted roles (voter, consumer, worker/producer, investor) and local economic cycles in order to create a prosperous society that ensures human freedom and dignity as well as the sustainability of nature and communities. In order to be able to bridge the gap between practice and theory, I enjoy daily the process of practicing together with various people in the field and the process of sublimation into practical knowledge.

- Business Development Impact Officer Kanafumi FURUICHI
- After graduating from university, I was involved in product development at a major manufacturer, and then gained experience in strategic consulting and M&A advisory at a foreign consulting firm. Later on, I engaged in venture investment at an IT company’s corporate venture capital and an independent venture capital firm, and joined our foundation in 2018. I am currently active as a capitalist in the social domain. I supported the launch of the Hataraku Fund (Japan Impact Investment Fund No. 2) and investing in and providing business support to Address Inc. Most recently, I have been serving as the project leader of the Hallucigenia Lab, a seed accelerator program for research and development of new resource circulation systems.

- While working for a foreign manufacturing company, I completed an internal leadership program and worked in an energy-related department. After leaving my first job, I went to New York to pursue a master’s degree in Masters in Public Administration. While studying in the US, I interned at a philanthropic advisory and at a private foundation. At SIIF, I am involved in philanthropic advisory for high net worth individuals, investment in early stage social entrepreneurs, and social impact assessment of healthcare startups. My main areas of interest are the ways in which individuals can express their values through philanthropic activities and philanthropy’s role in a democractic society.

- Business Development Impact Officer Noriko SAWAI
- I have been engaged in incubation, hands-on investment, and IPO support business in the fields of biotechnology, life science, and IT for about 15 years at a domestic VC firm. After developing new businesses based on the concept of personalized medicine, I was in charge of policies related to personalized medicine and genomics in the government. Since joining the Foundation in February 2020, I have been in charge of investment development for the Hataraku Fund (Impact Investment Fund), secretariat for GSG-IMM (Impact Evaluation Management), and planning for impact investment in the ocean sector. I have a strong interest in creating impact through science and innovative people and systems, with an awareness of social change and value creation over a 100-year span.

- Business Development Impact Officer Yuji SUYAMA
- After working for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) on the review of energy policy in light of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the policies of the electrical and electronics industry, I moved to a venture capital (VC) which also supported large corporations to make new business and made policy recommendations. As a VC, I provided management support to a space development venture that raised 10.5 billion yen, an IoT venture and so on. Later on, I became independent and have been engaged in impact investment and managing multiple businesses with social impact.
Other areas of interest are philosophy (ethics; Hideo Kobayashi, P. F. Drucker, Ken Wilber), security, and culture. My hobby is to listen to and dialogue with various people.

I have been involved in strategy development, organization building, social impact bonds, and impact investing since joining Japan Social Impact Innovation Foundation in 2018.
Prior to that, I was with an impact investing institution headquartered in Liechtenstein as well as one in Japan, in which I was in charge of investment and management support. I also worked in finance in the aircraft and renewable energy industry at a Japanese trading company and in marketing at an U.S. aircraft manufacturer.
I am also a business advisor to several companies, president of the East Asia jury for the Cartier Women’s Initiative, and a judge for the MIT Inclusive Innovation Challenge.

- Compliance Office Chief Compliance Officer Akiyuki SHIOBARA
- I was involved in the plastics-related business for more than 30 years at a general trading company, and later served as an internal auditor and auditor. Plastic is often treated as a bad thing because of marine debris, however, it is actually very useful in improving the global environment by making cars and airplanes lighter, wind power turbines, solar power components, etc. At the Foundation, I would like to engage in work that will help solve social issues and preserve the natural environment for our children and grandchildren’s generations.

- After graduating from university, I studied in Taiwan and then majored in international development at a graduate school in the United States. As an employee of an international NGO, I was engaged in education and impact evaluation projects in rural areas of China. After returning to Japan, I worked in risk management at a foreign financial institute and then at a think tank, where I was in charge of supporting the launch of impact businesses in emerging countries by Japanese companies, research on impact investment, and ESG research. Since joining the foundation in July 2017, I have been leading the development and implementation of business and impact investment strategies, creating precedents as a partner of impact investment funds, conducting research to build an impact investment ecosystem in Japan, collaborating with ministries and agencies, and working with global promotion organizations.

- After working in private banking at a foreign financial institution for about 20 years, I worked at a Type B facility for the disabled and an NPO that provides learning support for children in need of financial assistance. At the Foundation, I am in charge of philanthropic advisory for wealthy individuals and supporting social entrepreneurs. I would like to be a link between philanthropists who want to change society and entrepreneurs and NPOs who are working to change society. I am interested in poverty, gender, and the environment. I am also a board member of an NPO that supports children in need across Japan.

- After working for a food manufacturing company as a sales representative for importing raw materials and distributing them domestically, I worked for a consulting company as a consultant, providing support to the corporate planning department and project management.
At the Foundation, I am in charge of the SIB/PFS project, the Dormant Deposit Utilization project, and the Single Mother Entrepreneurship Support project. I am also involved in intermediate support for the projects, management support for the businesses, and impact management. I am interested in working and learning.
